January ~ Back to School & Chocolate

Howdy, y’all! Happy New Year once again! I hope your resolutions have been going well – I’ve already completely forgotten mine, once again. Well, not all of them. I’ve been trying to exercise 5x a week, but have only managed to do it only twice. Baby steps, right?

It’s been a busy and slightly frustrating month. After spending three weeks in an English speaking country, getting back into the Italian flow was a tad difficult. On the first day back, it felt like the very first day of school. But words and phrases quickly started coming back, thankfully. We had three tests this month, which wasn’t very nice, but I survived! Yay!

Anyway, enough of school talk. Possibly the most important thing to mention about this month is our trip to Assisi and Perugia.

Assisi is home to the Basilica of San Francesco, the birth and death place of St. Franics – an Italian Catholic friar, deacon, and preacher. The entire structure is like a combination of a palace and a church. The inside is even more impressive with its arches and painted walls. I sadly was not able to take pictures inside.

The rest of Assisi is compact and beautiful – the town on the hill.

Our next stop was Perugia. With a quick visit to another church, we headed to the main event – the Baci Factory. If you are unfamiliar with Baci, the word translates to ‘kiss’ in Italian, but in Perugia, it’s the home of the chocolate factory. After taking the tour and eating the chocolate, I don’t think I will ever be able to eat another piece of American chocolate.

The rest of the month concluded with more schooling and ended with a sprinkle of magic. Florence finally got some snow.

That’s all! Not a whole lot happened like last month, but that snowy morning made up for it:)

See you next month!

  1. Ooh ooh oooooooooooooh you went to Assisi!!!!!! (Can you tell I’m Catholic? Hee.) Wow. Ow I am beautifully jealous.

I’ve had some European chocolate before, and even from that I can imagine American chocolate will no longer seem dropped from Heaven. 🙂

Also, exercising twice is much better than the amount of exercise I’ve done this entire year…..haha!

Tell Italy hi for me. 🙂

Lol just a bit:) If you ever make it over, it’s definitely worth checking out!

Exactly! A lot of people have said that compared to European chocolate, American is just wax and honestly, I don’t deny it. I guess I’ll need to stock up before I get home.

Lol! It’s never too late to start:)

      It says ciao to you!
