It’s that time of the month again! Cait & Sky have come up with another edition of Beautiful People where authors can answer questions about their WIPs, characters, or about themselves! Anyone can join, just head over to one of these two gal’s blogs, copy the questions, take the button, and have fun!
This month one of my characters shall be answering these glorious questions, and that character is none other than Prince Mikael Corwall of Caledonia! If you haven’t noticed already, I changed the spelling of Mikael’s name from Michael to Mikael. The “K” just looks so much better, in my opinion.
Anyway, Prince Mikael everyone!
What are they addicted to/can’t live without?
I suppose I can’t really live without some sort of weapon on me, whether it’s a sword at my side or a dagger in my boot. One always has to be prepared. It’s a dangerous world out there.
As for an addiction . . . I don’t really know, actually. No, wait, actually I do. I suppose I’m addicted to the outdoors. I can’t stand being inside for so long. I need to feel the breeze on my skin, breathe in the fresh air though that really depends on where one is standing, and I just love to be alone with my own thoughts, whether it’s out in the fields during the First Seed and Harvest or exploring the edge of the Hallowing Woods during the First Showers.
Name 3 positive and 3 negative qualities about your character.
I believe I am a loyal person, I have integrity and compassion. But I’m not perfect. I tend to get jealous easily, I can be stubborn at times, and unkind.
Are they holding onto something they should get rid of?
I suppose every does. Mine would probably be a memory, one that I do not wish to discuss.
If 10 is completely organized and 1 is completely messy, where do they fall on the scale?
I believe I am somewhat of a messy person, and I thank Chora every day for servants. So, I shall say 2 or 3 on the scale.
What most frustrates them about the world they live in?
What frustrates me is that some people just don’t care that they are ending another human being’s life. There have been so many deaths on my world and the majority of the people don’t care. It . . . angers me so much.
How would they dress for a night out? How would they dress for a night in?
A night out? Do you mean like when I find an opportunity to leave the castle without a guard or servant following me? I typically dress like a commoner, plain tunic, trousers, sometimes I don’t wear shoes.
As for a night in, it really depends on if my family is entertaining guests, but I usually wear a clean tunic with a embroiled vest, tight pants with tall boots or clean shoes, and sometimes if it is a really important guest, I’ll wear the crest of Caledonia around my neck.
How many shoes do they own, and what kind?
I own a few pairs of boots for walking, riding, or for special occasions. I have black shoes that lace up to my ankles that I typically wear for balls and parties. And I have one pair of shoes that are tattered, which I put on when I need a break from the castle.
Do they have any pets? What pet do they WISH they had?
No pets in the castle. I have a horse. Kole. He’s black, a bit old, but he’s the fastest horse in this entire kingdom.
I acquired Kole when I was ten cycles, I believe. One of my father’s generals died and Kole was his horse. To honor the general, their steed was killed as well. This was my first ceremony to honor the dead. Before the archers took their aim, I raced over to the horse and begged my father to let me keep him. After a while, and quite a lot of persuasion, my father agreed. Kole seemed to like me or he appreciated that I saved his life, but I have been the only one who has been able to ride him.
I don’t believe I wish for any other pet. Kole is enough for me.
Is there something or someone that they resent? Why and what happened?
Definitely my cousin Haylen. We haven’t always gotten along. Before I was born, Haylen was next in line for the throne since my parents didn’t have any children. Then I was born and Haylen was no longer next in line. He hates me for it and does everything in his power to make me appear as weak as possible while showing the rest of the world how strong he is. Perhaps I really am weak. I’m nothing like him and my father approves of him. More than he does of me, anyway.
What’s usually in their fridge or pantry?
Our kitchens are always stocked with fresh food, save for the cold season. I don’t own a personal pantry in my room, but I will sneak down to the kitchens once and a while to snag a piece of dried fruit.
Well, there’s a bit more about Mikael, everyone! What did you think? I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about him. He’s one of my favorites:)
